Bank Data Overview

Bank Data is a specialty dataset available at the Premium and Plus levels of Peer Suite. While Peer Suite's primary focus is credit union data, our inclusion of bank data offers valuable insights into competition, market trends, and strategic opportunities.

Why Include Bank Data?

Integrating bank data from the FFIEC Bank Call Report empowers credit unions to:

  • Compare financial performance with local and regional banks.
  • Gain a comprehensive market perspective by analyzing both credit union and bank data side by side.
  • Enhance strategic planning and benchmarking by incorporating insights from the broader financial landscape.

Features Of Bank Data In Peer Suite

Using Peer Suite’s familiar features, you can:

  • Evaluate local community banks: Select a bank as your primary institution to assess performance.
  • Compare across peer groups: Evaluate your performance against tailored bank peer groups, or gain insights into industry trends through built-in asset-based bank peer groups.
  • Leverage built-in or custom displays: Track your performance alongside your bank competitors.
  • Conduct advanced market analysis: Use Market Share Reporting to visualize markets, analyze HMDA data, and monitor deposit share.

Market Share Reporting is only available at the Plus level of Peer Suite. Learn more about this tool here.

Key Considerations

Credit unions and banks report different data on their respective call reports, making the data hard to analyze side-by-side. Keep in mind:

  • Not all credit union metrics are reported by banks, and some bank metrics are not applicable to credit unions.
  • Credit Unions: Primarily focus on members, and their reporting reflects that.
  • Banks: Report customers differently and often provide more granular breakdowns for loan categories.

Due to these differences, built-in or custom displays using credit union call report codes or smart codes will not work when applied to banks. This is why we created a folder specifically for comparing credit unions to banks, called the Bank Comparison folder.

Where To Start

Begin your analysis in the Bank Comparison folder, which contains around 100 built-in displays designed for seamless comparisons between credit unions and banks.

Peer Pointer!

The Bank Comparison Folder also contains a subfolder for Bank-Only Data. This is specifically curated for analyses focused solely on banks.
