How To Create a Custom Market

The Market Builder, accessible within the Market Analysis tool, puts the power of customization in your hands. Tailor your market analysis to focus on the regions and areas that matter most to you, and gain deeper insights into the market landscape for well-informed decision-making.


  1. Accessing the Market Builder: To create a custom market, navigate to the "Create" dropdown located in your Top Nav, then click on "Create Market."

  • Quick Edit: Double-click on a market in your comparison set to swiftly make edits.
  • Automated Footprint: Double-click on an institution to automatically populate its footprint in the Market Builder, then customize as needed.
  • Find My Branches Feature: Use this button to instantly create a market based on your Primary institution's branch locations, all within the Market Builder.

  1. Selecting States or Counties:
  • In the Market Builder, click on a state to open its county view.
  • Choose individual counties for detailed analysis.
  • Use "Select Entire State" or "Clear Entire State" buttons as needed.
  • Click back to the "USA" view (upper left of the map) to include additional areas in your market analysis.


  1. Managing Counties: For greater customization, the builder allows you to exclude or manually add specific counties using the "County Search" on the left side of the Market Builder. This feature ensures you have precise control over the market you want to evaluate.

Counties marked with an asterisk (*) indicate they are designated as underserved counties by the CFPB, meeting the NCUA's Investment Area Criteria.


  1. Previewing Market Details: The Market Builder provides a preview of the branch breakdown and market lending information for your defined market. This valuable insight allows you to assess potential opportunities and challenges within the chosen market.

  1. Name and Save your new Market!: Once saved this market will be automatically added to your comparison set.
